Walking Mountains Science Center is a regional resource for environmental education, stewardship, and sustainability in the Eagle River Valley of western Colorado. They believe that scientific knowledge begins, and grows, in the outdoors. Their mission is to awaken a sense of wonder and inspire environmental stewardship and sustainability through natural science education. They envision an Eagle Valley where everyone understands the science of nature and is inspired to take action as an environmental steward. They serve over 200,000 individuals each year through three areas: Youth Programs, Community Programs, and Sustainability Programs.

Walking Mountains Science Center's Sustainability Program acts as an agent of change to achieve local climate action goals and improve the social, economic, and environmental resilience of the Eagle County community. The Sustainability Program serves as a resource and education hub to inspire action from local to global.

Your funds donated through The Good Traveler will be used to support The Sustainability Program projects focused on Climate Action, Energy Efficiency & Buildings, Sustainable Business, Sustainable Destinations, and Waste Reduction & Diversion. Example projects include: providing waste education through zero waste events, recycling tours, providing energy assessments and rebates, supporting local businesses with implementation of sustainable best practices, youth sustainability and climate action education, and meeting our community wide goal of 80% greenhouse gas reduction by 2050.
